What's the problem? Effective Enterprise Risk Management is still an emerging discipline
Risk Management has historically been driven from three quite different directions
- Project Management
- Corporate Governance
- Insurance
Typically organisations have deployed some form of risk management process but, without the full integrated picture, their solutions are sub-optimal
- Domination by one or two groups, typically Project Managers, Auditors, Finance or Insurance Professionals
- Emphasis on specific subjects, such as Health and Safety, Business Continuity or Corporate Responsibility
In other words there is still plenty of scope to get more targeted business benefit from the overall process, but this means integrating hitherto seperate processes.
